New light and new life

This is Transfiguration Sunday. Jesus is praying and then become transfigured in front of Peter, John and James. Of course, they don't now what to make of this.

We are seeing a preview of the resurrected Christ. in all his glory. This scripture is what we hang on to during Lent and Holy Week. Unfortunately for the disciples, they didn't get it. They had no idea why Jesus was being shown to them in this light.

What I find profound is that the transfiguration happened in the context of prayer. Prayer is the change agent. Prayer and reflection. How difficult it is for us these days to find time for prayer and reflection but it is necessary. It is through prayer which opens us to God and the prayerful reflection of our experiences that change us.
